Jed Mildon, the 24-years old BMX rider from New Zealand had performed last May 28, 2011 one of the most difficult stunt in BMX history a triple backflip and landing the bike safely unto the ramp. The performance was being watched by a Guinness representative for validation. A possible world record for his achievement was on the making.

Unit T3 Mindtricks BMX Jam in Taupo was the venue of Mildon’s world record attempt. It was a 20m (66ft) high super-ramp and flowed through a 3.6m(11ft) high super-kicker and a purpose-built Mega-Megabox landing.

Principal sponsors of Jed Mildon which was responsible for the ramp construction also were Unit, Bikefest and Taupo District Council, MB Century, McDonald’s Taupo, theairbag.co.nz, foampit.co.nz and Pilgrim Bike Co.

Paul Everest, the Unit t3 founders was so proud of Jed Mildon’s achievement. He was quoted as saying “Jed has proven himself to be one of the world’s best BMX riders and we salute him for having both the drive and ability to change the face of action-sports.” said Mildon.

Jed Mildon on his part was so inspired with his performance and even planning to take more difficult stunts for the upcoming months. In an interview after his breathtaking performance he was quoted as “I don’t really know that much what was going on around but the fact that all I wanted to do was pull really hard off that lip and land three flips which is what we achieved.” Mildon stated.

The BMX Biker futher adds that “It was pretty surreal landing the triple flip and being the first in the world to do it but it’s more the pleasure of achieving the project and pulling it off 100 percent.” said Mildon.

The achievement made by Mildon was just one of the few death-defying stunts we’ve seen for the past few months. Here is the video of his performance: Jed Mildon’s World’s first BMX Triple Backflip:
