Huaning PH: Here’s The Latest About the Tropical Depression From PAGASA

Check out PAGASA’s update about Huaning PH, a tropical depression.

HUANING PH – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) gives an update about the tropical depression.

Previously, a low-pressure area east northeast of Batanes province had developed into a tropical depression, and was called Huaning when it entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). At 10 AM on Monday, the tropical depression was located 535 km east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, and no wind signals had been raised as it was unlikely it would affect the country directly.

Huaning is the 8th storm of the year, and recently, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the latest update about it.

According to the post issued at 5 PM, Huaning maintains its strength while moving slowly. At 4 PM, its center was at 555 km east-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, and has an intensity of maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, and a central pressure of 1008 hPa while moving northward slowly.

Based on the forecast, it will continue to move north until it exits PAR on Tuesday morning, August 19. It may pass near or over the Ryukyu Islands tomorrow morning or afternoon.

It is expected to remain a tropical depression for the entire forecast period, and “intensification into a tropical storm remains not ruled out but not the most likely scenario at this time.”

Meanwhile, in a previous article, President Bongbong Marcos remarked that rains and floods have become a new normal. Marcos said during a situational briefing, “I hate to use the overused phrase, but this is the new normal. This is really our life now, no matter what we do.”

The country may experience up to 16 cyclones from August to December, according to PAGASA.
