Last May, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto went viral and sparked laughter online because of his phone. The mayor uploaded a TikTok video with “low quality” while explaining the city’s door-to-door initiative in delivering Noche Buena packs to families in his city for Christmas.

Apart from focusing on what he was talking about in the video, netizens seemed to focus more on the quality of the video. Quickly, it became a topic of both amusement and teasing among the people online.
“Gamit na gamit ang CCTV sa city hall ng Pasig ah,” and “Mayor ba’t naman sa CCTV ng munisipyo ka nag video?” were some of the comments in Mayor Vico’s video. In a response, “Dami ko magandang sinabi, pinagtatawanan niyo phone ko!”
Recently, his father, Vic Sotto, was asked about this, and according to the veteran comedian, as long as his phone is still functional, he won’t change it. His son is accordingly firm in his principles, and he is proud of him because of this.
As much as we all know, Vico is his son with Coney Reyes. Vico is now in his 3rd term as Pasig, and many are expecting for him to run for a higher position in the incoming elections.
He quipped, “Alam mo, ibang klase yung anak kong yun, e. Ang sabi niya, hangga’t hindi sumasabog yung telepono niya, hindi magpapalit yun, e. Ganun ang prinsipyo nun, ganun manindigan yun, e. But I’m very, very proud of him.”
Last April, he also posted a selfie of himself and some photos from his campaign. The post earned the same reactions from people online, with some even joking about offering him phones in installments with a discount.
