2 Men Caught Inside Manhole Stealing Cable Wires in Quezon City
Two men were caught inside a manhole in Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City, stealing cable wires belonging to a telecommunications company.
On Monday afternoon (May 28, 2025), two male suspects were arrested for stealing wires from a telecommunications company in Quezon City. The stolen wires were valued at P117,050.
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Jose Luis Aguirre, commander of the Holy Spirit Police Station, police officers quickly responded after receiving a tip from security guards who saw the suspects entering the manhole.

“Nakakita po sila ng dalawang kahinahinalang tao sa loob ng manhole at pinuntahan nila ‘to at nakita yung dalawa sa loob mismo at may dalang kable… ‘yung mga copper wires po ay pag-aari ng isang telecommunications company,” PLTCOL. Aguirre said.
When the police arrived, they found the two men inside, carrying cut copper wires. The suspects also had a hacksaw, believed to have been used to cut the cables. Authorities suspect the wires were to be sold for money.
Investigators are now checking if the two are part of a group involved in stealing copper wires in Quezon City.
Both men have a history of criminal activity. They were previously jailed for theft, robbery, and violations of the Dangerous Drugs Act. Despite this, the suspects insisted they were innocent.
One of them, 31 years old, claimed they did not steal the wires and that the hacksaw was not theirs. The other, aged 33, said they were only looking for small pieces of scrap metal because they had no jobs and no money.
At present, the two men are being held at the Holy Spirit Police Station. They will face charges under Republic Act 10515, also known as the Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet Tapping Act of 2013.
