Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Admits Studying Current Election Period
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President remains undecided on the 2028 Elections for president saying there are factors to be considered.
Following the controversial arrest of her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the Vice President immediately flew to The Hague, Netherlands. She stayed abroad for three (3) weeks to finalize the legal team of her father.
The elder Duterte is currently detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court. According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, Pres. Bongbong Marcos should be held liable over her father’s arrest. She claimed that he committed an “impeachable offense”.
Previously, former Pres. Duterte claimed her daughter can allegedly be president the next day or in the future because of what was done to her. Former presidential legal counsel Salvador Panelo also claimed that if the elder Duterte dies during the ICC detention, it can allegedly lead to the presidency of his daughter.
Currently, there are calls from the Duterte supporters for Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to take the presidential race. However, based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President clarified that she has yet to decide on the matter.
According to Vice Pres. Duterte, she still cannot answer on whether or not she will run for president in the 2028 Elections. She added that she will try to decide on it after the 2025 Midterm Elections with her assessments of the current election period.
“Hindi ko talaga masagot iyan. Subukan natin pagkatapos ng eleksyon. Pagkatapos namin mag-assess sa nangyari na eleksyon, na midterm elections, iyong kampanya namin,” Duterte said.
Meanwhile, based on the report, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte assured that her decision on whether or not she will run for president in the 2028 Elections will not be influenced by the number of pro-Duterte candidates who will win in the 2025 Midterm polls. According to her, there are important factors that should be considered.
“Nandiyan din iyong factors ng pondo, machinery, at lahat na. Yes, nakita natin na puwedeng walang ganyan ang isang kandidato noong 2016 kay President Duterte pero iba kasi iyong situation noong 2016 at iban iyong sitwasyon ngayon,” she explained.
Vice Pres. Duterte expects that the attacks against her family will allegedly be more intense in the coming days. She claimed that the assault complaints against her older brother, Davao Congressman Paolo Duterte, is allegedly mere politicking.
“Kasi, desperate people, they can think of the worst things to do,” the Vice President said.
The Vice President has recently criticized multiple times the P20 per kilo rice program of the government. Recently, Malacañang called on Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to stop being “childish”.
