Statement of Malacañang on Claim of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte
Malacañang asserted that President Bongbong Marcos is in the Philippines working while Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is in abroad.
The unexpected arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte brought political turmoil in the country. Undeniably, it caused a huge faction most especially among the supporters of the Dutertes and the Marcoses.
Former Pres. Duterte was arrested upon his arrival from Hong Kong at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last March 11. On the same day that he was arrested, the former President was flown to The Hague, Netherlands via Dubai.
According to Malacañang, the government have to comply with the law and give justice either to the victims or the accused. The Palace stressed that the government acted on the arrest of former Pres. Duterte because of its commitment with the Interpol.
Following the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte immediately followed her father in The Hague, Netherlands. According to her, she is the one among their siblings who has a Schengen Visa and is a lawyer.
Vice Pres. Duterte claimed that former Pres. Duterte wants her to immediately go home to the Philippines and not leave the country. As per the request of her father, the Vice President claimed she will just set the legal team of her father in his trial before the International Criminal Court and go home to the Philippines.
While she’s away from the Philippines, there are instances when Vice Pres. Sara Duterte gives her time to the press to answer some questions. Recently, a remark of the Vice President caught the attention of many people including including Malacañang.
Based on a report on GMA News, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that the country is heading towards a “dumpster”. According to the Vice President, the country must be going up.
“At this point, we should be working our way up, but it seems that we are working to go to the dumpster,” the Vice President said.
In response to the claim of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte that the Philippines is allegedly going into “dumpster”, Malacañang Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro stressed that the Vice President is the one who is “missing” in the country right now.
Based on the report, Atty. Claire Castro emphasized that Pres. Bongbong Marcos is in the Philippines working while Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is not. According to the Malacañang Press Officer, it is probably why the Vice President does not see the works of the administration.
“Kung walang nakikita siya na ginagawa ng administrasyon, malamang ay dahil nasa ibang bansa siya. Ang Pangulo po ay nasa bansa natin ngayon, sa Pilipinas, nagtatrabaho. Samantalang ang Bise Presidente ay nawawala po,” she said.
Duterte is still in The Hague but said that she will just set the legal team of her father and go home as she has an impeachment trial to face. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also revealed that her sister, Kitty Duterte, will go to The Hague.
