China Gives P90-Million Typhoon Aid To PH
China Gives P90-million Typhoon Aid – China said that it has given the Philippine government with a total of P90-million typhoon aid for the relief operations in the areas that have been hit by Supertyphoon Lawin, which affected most areas in north Luzon.
According to a report by GMA News, the Chinese Embassy has stated that the Chinese government has committed 5 million RMB or P35 million for the relief operations of the Philippines.
It added that it also donated an additional P50-million aid for the farmers and fishermen in the regions that have been affected by the typhoon, plus, a $100,000 fund to be given by the Red Cross Society of China.
The Chinese embassy has stated that it has already given about P90 million as, according to it, the Chinese government is confident about the leadership of President Rodrigo Duterte.
“The Chinese side is confident that under the leadership of President [Rodrigo] Duterte, people in the stricken areas will overcome the calamity and return to their normal work and lives as soon as possible,” it said as quoted in the report.
Meanwhile, according to Social Welfare and Development Secretary Judy Taguiwalo, the Philippines did not need foreign assistance for disasters, but, still, welcomes the help from other countries without conditions.
“Pasensya na kung ang dating ng komento na iyon ay kaya na natin ito at hindi na natin kailangan ng foreign aid. Handa tayong tanggapin ang tulong na ito batay sa ating pangangailangan at batay sa walang kundisyon,” she said.
(We apologize if the statement seemed that we don’t need the foreign aid. We are ready to welcome help depending on our needs and without any condition.)
Taguiwalo added that the foreign aid that would be coming from other countries or organizations needs to be voluntary.
Is this the start of the China-Philippines alliance?
