Male Netizen Shares Reason Behind Rice Sack Next to Door, Thinking It’s for Good Luck
A netizen shared a photo of rice next to their door, thinking it was for good luck, but it turned out to be because no one else could carry it.
Recently, John Benedict Gutierrez, a Facebook user, posted a picture of the rice next to his front door, believing it to be a New Year’s tradition meant to bring good fortune. His post quickly went viral and garnered reactions from the online community.
John shared that the rice had been sitting by their door for a week, and he assumed it was placed there by his mother as part of a New Year’s tradition. He thought his mother had learned about this tradition on TikTok, where people often believe placing rice by the door will bring blessings and prosperity for the year ahead.
However, it turned out that his mother simply had nowhere else to put the rice and didn’t actually have any special intention behind leaving it there.
In his post, John humorously explained that he’s usually the one to buy rice and immediately take it to the kitchen. But with the timing so close to the New Year, he couldn’t help but assume there was a deeper meaning behind it.
He also joked about how, without this recent conversation with his mother, the rice might have stayed by the door until 2025.

“Importante talaga dapat sa bahay ang communication eh. Yang bigas na yan 1 week na ata yan sa may pinto namen akala ko dyan nilagay ng asawa ko pampaswerte sa new year. Yun pala wala lang daw magbubuhat. Buti nakapagusap kame kaninang umaga kung hindi gang 2025 yan dyan.”
