Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on his Connection to the Media, Press Releases
BONGBONG MARCOS – The Philippine President vowed to be more accessible to the media starting the New Year.
Many of the daily news reports are about the issues in the political field — the political events, the hearings in the Senate and the House of Representatives, the press releases of the Office of the President, and a lot more.
Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos spoke on his promise with regards to the media. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Chief Executive expressed his vow to be more accessible to the media.
Marcos stressed the importance of an interdependent relationship between the government and the fourth estate. He spoke to the members of the media in an event.
“In government, we could not do our jobs if you’re not there. And I think that goes both ways,” the President said.
According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, he wants to evolve the relationship between the government and the media by being transparent about the processes of the government in making decisions over the different issues.
The President admitted that there is usually the tendency for them to try and structure the releases as well as the news and the opinions. Meanwhile, he stressed that there is a space for the government to be less structured.
“Let’s start in the new year, we’ll try to make things less structured and I’ll make myself more accessible to you,” the President said.
Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos admitted that there are times when he wants to respond to the things he reads in the newspaper, the television reports, as well as the social media or give a better answer to it but he can’t as they have to attend to the other issues.
According to the President, the only thing that the government can do is to be more accessible. He stressed that the government “all of these bad apples take over the discussion, take over the narrative”.
Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also spoke to the media regarding the PhilHealth subsidy issue.
