Amid Zero Subsidy, PhilHealth Assures Members of Continuous Benefits

PHILHEALTH – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation assured its members that it will continue to pay for all the benefits and even improve it.

Following the decision of the Bicameral Conference Committee, Senator Grace Poe announced that Philippine Health Insurance Corporation will get a zero subsidy in 2025. The lawmaker stressed that the state health insurer will have to use its reserve funds kept in a bank account.

PhilHealth reacted to the issue saying it will appeal to Pres. Bongbong Marcos through a letter regarding its government subsidy. “The Bicam understands PhilHealth’s capacity to continue managing the National Health Insurance Program given its surplus funds,” PhilHealth President and CEO Emmanuel R. Ledesma, Jr. said.

The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. also assured its members that all benefits will continue to be paid and will be even enhanced. The chief of the state health insurer expressed his confidence that their funds can sustain the operation.
