Sofronio Vasquez received international recognition
Filipino singer Sofronio Vaquez was hailed as the big winner at The Voice USA on December 11 Philippine time.
Sofronio is not a newbie when it comes to the singing competition, a contest on television specifically. He joined the popular Tawag ng Tanghalan, a segment in the Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime, back in 2016.
He did not stop dreaming and joined once again in 2019. Unfortunately, Sofronio did not achieve the success he had been aiming for.
This year, Sofronio Vasquez’s dream became bigger. He joined The Voice USA. During the blind auditions, he was a four-chair turner. The Pinoy singer captivated coaches Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé.
Sofronio decided to be under Team Bublé. Since that, he has been showcasing his voice with breathtaking performances. Eventually. Sofronio was announced as one of the finalists.
On Dec. 11, the announcement of the grand winner came and the Pinoy singer won. He defeated his fellow finalists Danny Joseph from Team Reba, Jeremy Beloate from Team Snoop, Shye from Team Bublé, and Sydney Sterlace from Team Gwen.
Based on the article in Latest Chika, Sofronio got the highest number of votes from viewers across the nation and he took home $100,000, as well as, a recording contract.
Before the announcement of the winner, Sofronio expressed gratitude to his coach. “Michael… it’s so weird to say Michael, I call you Sir. Your mentorship is a blessing to me, to my family, and to all the dreamers out there. You open the doors for everyone. Thank you so much,” the Pinoy singer said.

His coach responded that he had become a hope to many people, not just in the Philippines but in the whole of Asia. “So proud. You represent them so well, and it’s such an unbelievable journey to be here with you,” Michael added.
During the finals, Sofronio Vasquez sang Unstoppable by Sia and the inspirational ballad A Million Dreams from the musical The Greatest Showman.
