House Member Confirms VP Sara Duterte Impeachment Move Rolling
SARA DUTERTE IMPEACHMENT – A House of Representatives confirmed that an impeachment complaint vs. the Vice President is eyed this December and they will also check the side of the Senate.
Undeniably, one of the most controversial politicians in the Philippines now is Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Several recent remarks and actions of the Vice President hooked national attention and it is also no secret to the people that her relationship with Pres. Bongbong Marcos has turned sour.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has thrown tirades against Pres. Bongbong Marcos in the recent months. She accused the Chief Executive of allegedly not knowing how to be a president. She also claimed that she has never heard him discuss a solution to a problem of the country.
The recent remarks of Vice Pres. Duterte which seemingly ignited threats on the lives of Pres. Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez hooked many people as well. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) issued a subpoena for Duterte urging her to explain her statement against Marcos Jr.
The recent remarks of the Vice President triggered calls for her to undergo a psychiatric examination. She claimed that she is willing to undergo a neuro test, a drug test, and any kind of test to prove her mental stability provided that the other officials will do the same.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also earned criticisms for her repetitive non-appearances at the hearings conducted by the House of Representatives over the budget use of her offices. She is being asked about the utilization of the Confidential Funds of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) as well as the Department of Education (DepEd) during her term.
The OVP requested for a P2 billion budget for 2025 but, following Duterte skipping several hearings, the House granted only a P773 million-budget for next year. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, a VP Sara Duterte impeachment move is rolling in the House of Representatives now.
ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro claimed that they are currently gathering signatories for the complaint seeking to impeach Vice Pres. Duterte. She stressed that not only Bayan but as well as the other sectors will sign the complaint. They eye to file the VP Sara Duterte impeachment complaint this December.
“Kung matatapos namin, naraming signatories hindi lang sa Bayan. [Multi-sectoral]. I think kaya naman [before the year ends],” Castro said.
Based on the report, Castro believes that there are sufficient numbers in the House of Representatives to impeach Vice Pres. Duterte and send the complaint to the upper House. They will also look into the possible supporters of the complaint in the Senate.
“Kino-consider din natin ang number sa ngayon para siyempre maipanalo, mai-push natin itong impeachment. Tinitingnan din natin ‘yung bilang sa Senado kung sino ‘yung pwedeng pumayag sa impeachment,” the House member said.
Amid the issues surrounding his daughter, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte previously called on the military to protect the Constitution and questioned their loyalty to the Marcos administration. He expressed his confidence that his daughter can handle the issues.
