DepEd Flexes Former ALS Learner Who is Now a Full-Fledged Police Officer

The Department of Education (DepEd) proudly flexed a former ALS learner who is now a full-fledged police officer.

Recently, the Facebook page, “DepEd Philippines” shared the story of Mark Joenard Bautista from Passi City, who completed the ALS program in 2015 and achieved his dream of becoming a police officer. The post quickly spread online and received praise from netizens.

Bautista’s journey began with challenges. Financial difficulties led to his expulsion from a private high school, and without the necessary documents, he couldn’t enroll in a public school.

Determined to continue his studies, he and his mother sought help from the School Division of Passi City. There, an ALS teacher stepped in to support him, helping Mark earn his high school diploma through the ALS program in 2015.

With his new credentials, Mark enrolled in college at Passi City College, where he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Criminology. He graduated in 2021 and immediately took the Criminology Board Exam, passing it on his first attempt.

Bautista said.
