House QuadComm Invites Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte into Hearing
RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former President was formally invited by the House Quad Committee into a drug war investigation.
There are currently a lot of questions regarding the Duterte administration’s drug war. The recent claim against the most popular campaign of the previous administration triggered the questions and the speculations.
There are allegations of a reward system under the Duterte drug war which the former President denied. According to former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, the cops do not accept monetary rewards so he would show his appreciation to them through food and drinks.
There are deaths linked to the Duterte drug war. Currently, there is an investigation in the House of Representatives regarding the drug war.
Based on a report on PhilStar, the House Quad Committee has formally invited former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte to the investigation of his administration’s war on drugs. The document citing the invitation was signed by Representative Robert Ace Barbers.
“The joint committee respectfully invites you to attend the inquiry to provide valuable insights and shed light on the issues under discussion,” the document signed by Barbers said.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte has yet to respond on the House hearing investigation set on October 22. Previously, Senator Bato dela Rosa also expressed his intention to launch a parallel probe in the Senate regarding the Duterte drug war.
However, the said statement only earned negative reactions from many people. Former Senator Leila de Lima even slammed the target of Dela Rosa saying that he is also one of the accused in the issue.
Amid the negative criticisms on the plan of the former chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the Duterte administration, another individual close to the former President made a move.
Sen. Bong Go filed a Senate resolution seeking for an investigation on the Duterte drug war. According to him, it is imperative to know the truth. He stressed that the war on drugs has positive effects in the society bringing a safe surrounding for many people.
Sen. Bong Go also previously defended former Pres. Duterte on his campaign against drugs. He stressed that “everyone” clapped and were allegedly in standing ovation whenever the former President would mention about his admin’s war on drugs campaign during the State of the Nation Address (SONA).
