Survey Result Shows Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna To Get 8% Votes, Isko Moreno 86%
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna admitted that she is not surprised by the potential landslide victory of Isko Moreno based on the survey result.
One of the 2022 presidential candidates who is running in the 2025 Midterm Elections is actor-politician Isko Moreno. He was the mayor of Manila before he took a ticket to the presidency but failed to win the race.
Isko Moreno whose running-mate was Doc Willie Ong who he recently visited in a Singapore hospital. The actor-politician placed 4th in the presidential election. Ong also placed 4th in the vice presidential race. Both of them are running in the next election.
Despite his ongoing cancer treatment abroad now, Doc Willie Ong is running for senator next year. In the case of former Manila mayor Isko Moreno, he is seeking a comeback in the mayoral position.
One of his contenders in the mayoralty race in Manila is the now mayor of the city, Honey Lacuna. She was his running-mate in 2019 after an unsuccessful Senate bid in 2016. In 2022, the actor-politician endorsed the mayoral bid of Lacuna as he ran for the presidency but lost.
Previously, Moreno claimed that he personally went to the office of Lacuna to ask her if he can return as Manila mayor. He claimed that she refused his comeback. In a separate interview, Lacuna confirmed that the former Manila Mayor visited her but she said that she did not say a word after he informed her about her political plans in 2025.
Recently, the Octa Research survey result conducted in July showed that Isko Moreno will probably have a landslide win in the mayoral race in Manila. Based on a report on Inquirer, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna will get 8% of votes while he will get 86% of votes.
The capital city’s Mayor admitted that the result is not a surprise to her anymore. Based on the report, she stressed that the former Mayor is already a national figure and has good social media presence which her office now fell short.
“Well, I’m not surprised. You know Isko is already a national figure. He has run for a national position already two times: first for a senatorial seat and then most recently for the presidency,” she said.
According to Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, she continued the infrastructure projects that started under the term of former Mayor Isko Moreno. She also started building more classrooms and healthcare facilities as well as give priority to social amelioration projects but they lack publicity and social media presence.
“We do it the old fashioned way,” the Manila Mayor said.
Lacuna admitted that they lack advertising which Moreno really knows how to do. Aside from the former Mayor, Isko Moreno’s actor son Joaquin Domagoso is running for councilor in the city, too.
