Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s Claim on Ties

BONGBONG MARCOS – The President reacted to the statement of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte denying their friendship.

It is no secret to the public now that there is really a falling out in the ties between Pres. Marcos and Vice Pres. Duterte. The speculations started when the Vice President left significant government positions making her no longer part of the cabinet of the Marcos administration.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte resigned from being the secretary of DepEd or the Department of Education. She also left her position as the vice-chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.

Duterte claimed that there are both personal and work reasons why she left the Marcos cabinet and the helm of DepEd. The Vice President also did not watch the recent State of the Nation Address (SONA) of the President even online.

At the height of the search operations to find Pastor Apollo Quiboloy inside the Kingdom of Jesus Christ compound in Davao City, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte apologized to the KOJC members for seeking support for Pres. Bongbong Marcos in the 2022 Elections. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also said that they did not start as friends. According to her, it is Senator Imee Marcos who is her friend and she and the President just started talking about the campaign and work when they became running-mates in the 2022 Elections.

The BBM-Sara tandem campaigned under the platform of “unity” and their team-up was victorious in the 2022 Elections. Recently, Pres. Marcos was asked about the statement of Vice Pres. Duterte denying their friendship.

Based on an report on ABS-CBN News, at the sidelines of the the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Lao PDR, Pres. Bongbong Marcos claimed that he’s not quite sure if he understands the actions of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. He admitted that he’s disappointed by her statement.

“I’m a little dismayed to hear that she does not think we are friends. I always thought that we were but maybe I was deceived,” the President said.

Recently, Pres. Marcos flew to Lao PDR for ASEAN Summit where he spoke about the PH-China tension over the South China Sea. While he is not in the country, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said that Vice Pres. Duterte is not the caretaker of the Philippines.

    • Tama naman hindi naman sila talaga close friends at si Imee naman ang kanyang close at magkalapit lang sila noong nag tandem sila sa election.
