Michael Yang’s Brother Was Apprehended at NAIA

MICHAEL YANG – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced on Friday, September 20, that the brother of former presidential adviser Michael Yang has been arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Yang Jianxin, the brother of former presidential adviser Michael Yang, has been arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Friday, September 20.

Michael Yang, who served as an economic adviser to former President Rodrigo Duterte, has been linked with various scandals, including the Pharmally controversy during the COVID-19 pandemic and illegal activities related to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGOs).

Based on a report from Philstar, Jianxin, 54, was detained by the BI and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) upon his arrival from Cagayan de Oro on Thursday evening. The BI stated that he is facing deportation for being deemed undesirable and for allegedly misrepresenting himself as a Filipino, as well as falsifying information related to the Securities and Exchange Commission certification of his company, Phil Sanjia Corporation, a steel business he owns.

Complaints have been lodged against Jianxin’s company by employees who claim it failed to remit their contributions to the Social Security System (SSS), PAG-IBIG, and PhilHealth. Jianxin has also been known by the name Antonio Lim, which is the name under which he is registered as president of Phil Sanjia Corporation.

According to the report, the BI confirmed that Jianxin is currently in PAOCC custody. If convicted, he will be deported and blacklisted, but this will only occur once all of his legal issues are resolved.

Additionally, another of Michael Yang’s brothers, Hongjiang Yang, has been linked to former Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo, who faces several legal challenges related to her connections with POGOs, including a misrepresentation case. The Philippine government is currently addressing a wave of misrepresentation and immigration cases stemming from Senate investigations into POGOs.

Notably, Guo’s fingerprints matched those of Chinese national Guo Hua Ping, although she holds a legitimate birth certificate from the Philippine Statistics Authority.
