Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Clashes w/ Lawmakers during OVP Budget Hearings
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President reacted to the “spoiled brat” tag she earned after a series of heated arguments with lawmakers.
Recently, Vice Pres. Duterte has been on the headlines following her heated exchange of statements with Senator Risa Hontiveros and some House members during the budget deliberation for the fund requested by the Office of the Vice President for 2025.
Previously, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said that Vice Pres. Duterte’s office is seeking a P2 billion budget for 2025 with zero confidential funds. However, the alloted budget for the book distribution hooked the attention of Sen. Hontiveros during the Senate hearing for budget deliberation.
In the budget proposal of the OVP, P10 million is alloted for the distribution of the book authored by Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Her camp stressed that the distribution of the book Isang Kaibigan is in the pursuit to urge the students to read.
Sen. Risa Hontiveros and the Vice Pres. Sara Duterte had a heated exchange of remarks after the lawmaker questioned the similarity of the OVP’s assistance program with the assistance program of the other government agencies and the alloted budget for the book authored by the Vice President.
During the budget deliberation for the fund proposal of the OVP for 2025 at the House of Representatives, Vice Pres. Duterte also had a heated exchange of remarks with some House members after allegedly avoiding some questions.
The recent incidents during the budget deliberations at the Senate and the House of Representatives earned Vice Pres. Sara Duterte the “spoiled brat” tag. Senate President Chiz Escudero previously commented that Vice Pres. Duterte is not used to being asked.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte reacted to the “spoiled brat” tag following the recent heated exchange of remarks at the Senate and the House of Representatives budget hearing. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the public knows that she is not a spoiled brat. She stressed that the people knew her since her days when she held positions in Davao up to she became the Vice President.
“Alam ng taong bayan na hindi ako bratinella o “spoiled brat” dahil kilala nila ako simula nung ako ay nasa Davao pa… Kilala ako ng taong bayan na hindi ko inaabuso ang aking power at ang aking authority,” the Vice President said.
Recently, Vice Pres. Duterte apologized to the KOJC members for seeking their support for Marcos back during the 2022 Elections. The apology came amid the drilling operations of the Philippine National Police at the KOJC compound. Pres. Bongbong Marcos reacted to the Vice President apologizing to the KOJC members.
