There will be no evening gown segment in Miss Universe 2024 preliminary? What will happen?
MISS UNIVERSE 2024 – The most prestigious international beauty pageant will allegedly not have a long gown segment in preliminary.
Yet to take place is the Miss Universe 2024 competition. This beauty pageant is a competition where contestants from around the world compete with each other. Traditionally, there are segments such as evening wear, swimwear, and interview rounds in preliminary.
However, there are rumors circulating online about this year’s evening gown segment. Based on the rumors, this segment is not happening during the preliminary and will become a separate gala intended for the buyers of “Miss Universe Tour”.
Allegedly, they would want to give importance to the national costume segment, so instead of prioritizing the evening gown, the national costume segment will take its place for this year. This is their way to celebrate diverse culture.
The organization has confirmed already that there will be 130 countries participating in this year’s pageant which will be taking place in Mexico and in this journey, the delegates are to visit different Mexican destinations.
The format
The first cut is 30 candidates from 130 delegates. These 30 ladies will advance to the next round of the competition, which is the swimsuit segment. From 30, they will be down to 12 and the final will be 5 where they will be moving to the question round.
Apart from the new queen, there will also be “continental queens” to be crowned. The PH’s representative is model and tourism management graduate Chelsea Manalo. She will attempt to get the fifth crown of the country following the victories of Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), and Catriona Gray (2018).
This year, Nicaraguan queen Sheynnis Palacios will be crowning her successor at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City on November 16, which is November 17 in Manila.
