Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake in Camarines Sur, August 29, 2024
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.3 magnitude quake in Camarines Sur, August 29, 2024. Here are the details.
Following the 5.7 magnitude quake in Northern Samar yesterday, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake recently hit Camarines Sur and it has a magnitude of 4.3.
The earthquake that struck Camarines Sur, Thursday, August 29, 2024, was tectonic in origin. A tectonic quake is a shaking which is a product when the Earth’s crust breaks because of the geological forces on the rocks and the adjoining plates which result to chemical and physical changes.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Camarines Sur was located at 13.77°North, 123.90°East – 004 km South 83° East of Caramoan. It had a depth of focus of 009 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was felt at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby area. The following instrumental intensities were recorded:

- Caramoan, CAMARINES SUR
