PAGASA Says Habagat to Bring Rains Over Parts of the Country

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that habagat will bring rains over some parts of the country.

On Thursday (August 29, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that the southwest monsoon will bring rains over Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas. The southwest monsoon will bring occasional rains due to the southwest monsoon over Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.

“Patuloy naman natin mino-monitor itong cloud clusters o kumpol ng ulap dito sa may silangan ng ating bansa,” said Estareja.

The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, CALABARZON, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, and the rest of MIMAROPA.

Flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Habagat will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the Bicol Region and the rest of Central Luzon and Visayas.

Estareja said that cloud clusters, along with the southwest monsoon or habagat, would bring rainfall to most parts of the country. “Posible na may mabuong low pressure area dyan sa mga susunod na araw, at pumasok ng ating Philippine area of responsibility,” he added.

The remaining parts of the country will experience similar weather conditions due to the localized thunderstorms. Possible flash floods or landslides are expected during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be slight to moderate. Pagasa did not raise gale warnings over any of the country’s seaboards.
