VP Sara Duterte Speaks on NAIA Security
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President wants boosted security in NAIA after the circulation of the footage of her departure amid Typhoon Carina’s onslaught in the Philippines.
Vice Pres. Duterte was recently hooked in several issues. The VP earned a lot of bashing after photos and videos of her leaving the Philippines amid the onslaught of Typhoon Carina in the country surfaced.
Typhoon Carina brought heavy rains and strong winds in several areas in the Philippines. Many areas in the country were left under a State of Calamity and countless Filipino families lost their houses and livelihoods to the typhoon.
However, amid the wrath of Typhoon Carina in the country, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte earned online bashing after she was captured leaving the country. The said footage was taken at a terminal of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). The Vice President’s face is covered but she’s recognizable.
The Office of the Vice President or the OVP confirmed that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte left the Philippines amid the wrath of Typhoon Carina. The office of the VP admitted that the timing was unfortunate but assured that her travel got the necessary documents
The OVP stressed that Duterte’s travel got a permit from the Office of the President. She was with her mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman; husband, Attorney Manases Carpio; and their children.
The taking of her video at NAIA was previously tagged by Vice Pres. Duterte as a sign of a threat to her security. Following the recall of 75 cops assigned for her security, she appealed to her allies and supporters for the safety of her family.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed an urge to NAIA to boost the security in their airports. Speaking at the Senate hearing over the 2025 proposed budget of the OVP, the Vice President claimed that “a media person” was the source of the video. She stressed that the media person is not a personnel of the airport.
“Alam namin kung sino siya. We have footage na kumukuha siya ng cellphone footage,” the Vice President said.
The Vice President urges the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) to boost the security in Ninoy Aquino International Airport. She stressed that if the MIAA wants a world-class airport, the security must go the same way.
“If you want to have a world-class airport, dapat world class din yung security natin,” she said.
At the Senate hearing, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was also grilled for the Php 10 million allocated in the OVP’s proposed budget for 2025 for the distribution of her book.
