DBM Says Marcos’ Office Seeks Lower Budget for Trips in 2025
DBM – The Department of Budget Management revealed that the office of President Bongbong Marcos seeks over P1 billion for his trips in 2025.
The budget of the different offices and agencies in the Philippine government goes through scrutiny and several checking. The offices submit a proposal to the Department of Budget and Management for evaluation.
One of the offices that submit a budget proposal to the Department of Budget Management every year is the Office of the President. The fund for the travel of the chief executive is one of the budget requests of the office. It includes the funds for both domestic and international travels.
Following the 3rd State of the Nation Address or SONA of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the DBM revealed that his office is seeking a lower budget for his trips in 2025 compared to this year’s budget allocation.
Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, the Department of Budget and Management revealed that the Office of the President is seeking P1.054 billion budget for his trips in 2025. The total budget request is inclusive of both domestic and international trips of Pres. Bongbong Marcos next year.
According to DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, the budget that the Office of the President requests for his trips in 2025 is P94 million or eight percent lower than the budget allocated for his trips this 2024. This year’s travel fund for Marcos is at P1.148 billion.
During the briefing in Malacañang, Pangandaman said that the proposal of the Office of the President regarding Marcos’ 2025 trips comes with reduced local and foreign trips. Meanwhile, based on the report, the DBM guarantees the public that they will continue to market the country as an investment destination to investors.
According to Pangandaman, there were already memorandum of understanding and agreements signed by Pres. Bongbong Marcos last year and they would just make a follow-up to ensure that the investment is pushed through.
During his 3rd State of the Nation Address which was held in Batasang Pambansa last July 22, the President spoke on the targets of his administration as well as certain decisions. Marcos has decided to ban POGO in the Philippines amid the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators’ operations being linked to several illegal activities.
