Lady Teacher Goes Viral for Climbing Flagpole to Fix Flag Rope
A lady teacher from Savidug Elementary School in Sabtang, Batanes, took a daring approach to fix a problem with the school’s flagpole.
Recently, Arlene R. Castillo, a Facebook user shared a video of a female teacher climbing a flag pole to fix the flag rope. The video immediately spread like wildfire on social media and elicited comments online.
Carol Baro Figuro, known for her dedication, climbed the flagpole to secure a rope that frequently broke, showing the teacher’s commitment to her job.
Teacher Carol, who is 38 years old, has a history of tackling difficult tasks. She mentioned that she had climbed trees as a child, so climbing the flagpole wasn’t a new challenge for her. She didn’t want to rely on her students for such risky tasks and preferred to handle it herself.
Carol Figuro is a master teacher who has been teaching at Savidug Elementary for four years. Every day, she travels about 14 kilometers to serve her 19 students. Her willingness to go above and beyond for her students has earned her widespread praise.
“Bata pa po ako, siguro mga grade 3, umaakyat na ako sa puno ng niyog. Naging sanay na ako,” Figuro said.
On July 31, 2024, Teacher Carol climbed the flagpole to secure the nylon rope for the Philippine flag, ensuring that it was properly displayed for the school’s flag ceremony. This act of dedication received a flood of positive comments from netizens who admired her commitment.
Teacher Carol Figuro is not just any teacher, she’s an example of true dedication and resilience. Her actions remind us of the important role educators play in their students’ lives and their willingness to go the extra mile.
