Manila Solon Throws Accusation against VP Sara Duterte over Trip Abroad, Removal of PNP Security Detail
SARA DUTERTE – A Manila solon accused the Vice President of using the relief of the PNP security detail as the issue to shift public attention.
Recently, there were several issues involving Vice Pres. Duterte. One of which was the Vice President’s controversial trip abroad amid the onslaught of Typhoon Carina. Her office confirmed that she flew on a personal trip overseas with her family.
The Office of the Vice President admitted that the timing of the trip of Duterte abroad was “unfortunate”. Meanwhile, it assured that its disaster response unit can operate even without the Vice President.
Typhoon Carina brought heavy rains and strong winds in the Philippines. It left several areas under a state of calamity and countless Filipino families lost their homes and livelihoods to the calamity.
Aside from the issue regarding her controversial trip overseas, the relief of the 75 cops assigned for the security of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also drew comments. Initially, the Vice President said that the removal of many of her security detail will not affect her work.
However, the statements of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Rommel Marbil after the relief of the Vice President’s security detail did not sit well with Duterte. Vice Pres. Duterte released an open letter for PNP chief Rommel Marbil.
The Vice President denied that the PNP requested the OVP over the removal of her PNP security detail. She also raised instances which ignite the possibility of threats in her life like the alleged “police casing” in the area where she and her family resides to locate where she’s really living.
Recently, Manila 3rd District Representative Joel Chua reacted to the issues involving Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the solon believes that the Vice President is just diverting the issue to shift the public attention from her trip abroad to the removal of her PNP security detail.
Chua stressed that Duterte only spoke about the removal of her PNP security detail when reports about her trip abroad amid the wrath of Typhoon Carina surfaced.
“Sa tingin ko dina-divert lamang po nila ‘yung issue… The PNP is just doing their job. Sana respetuhin natin po yung ganito pong trabaho,” the Manila 3rd District Representative said.
Based on the report, Chua stressed that the PNP did not fully relieved all the cops assigned to the Vice President for her security. He stressed that 31 cops are still detailed for her security. He claimed that Duterte is the “most secured vice president in the history”.
