Criminology Student’s Outburst Goes Viral After Alleged Power Disconnection Incident
A criminology student has garnered reactions online after allegedly causing a scene when the electricity was reportedly cut off.
“Amok” refers to a state of sudden and uncontrolled violent behavior. It is often used to describe someone who has become extremely angry or agitated and acts out in a frenzied or chaotic manner.
The term originates from the Malay/Indonesian word “amuk,” which historically described a condition in which someone, typically in a state of intense rage or distress, would lash out violently at people or objects around them.
In modern usage, “running amok” or “going amok” generally refers to any situation where someone acts wildly or without self-control, often causing disruption or harm.
Recently, Alberto Jr. Espada, a netizen, shared a video showing an alleged criminology student running berserk over power disconnection. The post quickly went viral and garnered various reactions online.
According to the post, the suspect, identified as a criminology student but not yet a police officer from Bagong Silang, North Caloocan, displayed anger and allegedly prevented others from leaving until the electricity was restored.
The incident reportedly stemmed from an overdue payment of P8,000 for two months of electricity.
The video has raised questions about appropriate behavior, responsibilities in community living, and the conduct expected from future law enforcement officers.
It has also sparked a debate on social media about how such situations should be handled and the implications of public actions, especially for individuals studying in fields related to law enforcement.
