Kim Atienza reiterated his love for his former Showtime co-hosts
Seasoned TV host Kim Atienza recalled the misunderstanding that he had with Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda and past issue with Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime.
Kuya Kim was part of the original lineup of hosts of the Kapamilya noontime show. In a recent interview on Ogie Diaz Inspires, the Kapuso host shared his humble beginnings in showbiz. He recalled that his first show was with Ogie and it was in Magandang Umaga Bayan.
He also looked back at the time when he was asking Ogie how he did in a certain hosting stint because he wanted to hear his feedback to help him improve.
When Kim Atienza left It’s Showtime, some issues surfaced. Ogie Diaz mentioned in the interview the time when the Kapuso host congratulated John Prats for being the director of the show.
“Galing ni Lord no? Iniwas siya sa sakit ng ulo,” Kuya Kim wrote in his past post on X, formerly known as Twitter. He said that this was just misinterpreted by people as he said that it was a positive comment because he knows how difficult it is to pull off a live program.
The Kapuso host explained what he meant by that. “Ang problema sa Twitter, you’re only able to say whatever you want to say in a few words. Nawawala ang context. Kasi, ang context naman sa sinabi ko na iyon, sanay kasi si John na action at taped na serye,” he said as the actor-turned-director directed Ang Probisyano before Showtime.
“Ang ibig kong sabihin na, “Baka sumakit ang ulo mo” kasi live show ‘yan. Dahil yung panahon ni Bobet [Vidanes, former director of the program], masakit ‘yung ulo niya palagi. Dahil mahirap ang live show. Ibang skill set. That’s what I meant. Not to put down my colleagues,” Kuya Kim added.
He also stressed that he meant no harm and it just so happened that at that time, he was set to transfer to GMA, and Kapamilya supporters were quite sensitive about why he had to transfer and it was perceived as something negative but he said that he has no malice when he said that.
Kuya Kim also talked about the misunderstanding that he had with Vice Ganda. The Kapuso host said that this happened because of Karylle.
“Ako naman dahil kaibigan ko si Karylle, inaanak ko. Sinabi ko, ‘I love Karylle.’ E, may pinagdadaanan na pala ang show nu’n at it was taken out of context. Dahil nasaktan ko ang feelings ni Vice, kinausap ko kaagad, minessage ko kaagad. Nag-usap kami ng mahaba. ‘Tapos na ‘yun,” Kim Atienza said.
