Tom Rodriguez flew to the United States to be with his family. He was in a showbiz hiatus for two (2) years and it was just last February 2024 when he returned to the Philippines and to his showbiz career.

Being a U.S.-Filipino citizen of the United States, Tom Rodriguez filed for Divorce in U.S. However, according to Carla Abellana, a local court must recognize the Divorce Decree as it is a different process in the Philippines.

With regards to her stand on the proposed legalization of divorce in the country, the Kapuso actress has a mixed stand. Based on a report on Pep, the actress said that she cannot say that she is pro-divorce nor anti-divorce.

“Medyo torn. Given that I’m Roman Catholic. But ang napapansin ko at nararamdaman ko lang, personally, is ang dami nang sumisigaw na maipasa na siya, maging legal na siya,” Carla said.

Based on the article, amid having a mixed stand on the proposed legalization of divorce in the Philippines, Carla Abellana recognize the separation of the state and the Church but hopes that the pleas of those who need it will be heard.

“Siguro they should listen more, yung ating public officials, they should listen to people, to the citizens kung ano ba talaga yung kailangan nila, gusto nila. Para dun sila mag-base,” the actress said.
