Minimum Wage of P4, 227 a Month to Live Above Poverty Level
On Friday (August 05, 2016) a labor group said that Filipino workers can live above poverty level by earning a minimum wage of at least P4, 227 per month.
Filipinos can live above poverty level by earning more than P4, 227.58 a month according to Alan Tanjunsay, the Spokesperson of Associated Labor Unions (ALU). While outside metro Manila people need to earn more than P6, 000 a month to surpass poverty level.
In an email of Tanjunsay he said that only selected few are above poverty while there are very large population of Filipino are still poor. This only proves that many workers in our country remain poor.
The companies helped by the workers are growing but the workers are getting poorer as they left behind by their company, Tanjunsay added.
