Landslide in Bontoc Causes Road Blockage Due to Storm Carina

A landslide happens in Bontoc on Thursday (August 04, 2016) due to typhoon Carina over these previous days. It blocks the major road in the place temporarily. The landslide happened in Barlig Road in Sitio Lubo, Barangay Talubin

The road blockage causes delay for the residence and the motorists were stranded for few hours. The vehicles bounding for Bontoc, Natonin, and Barlig are affected in the land because they pass through the road.

In the report nobody was injured in the incident even it happened near the residential areas. There’s no rain when the landslide incident happened.

The consecutive rains due to Tropical Storm Carina cause the incident in the place according to Department of Public Works and Highways. The southwest monsoon or habagat have left some effects in the country that leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility last Monday.

A clearing operation on the road was conducted by DPWH immediately so the residence and motorists can pass along the way. It is estimated that the landslide was 50 meters tall and 50 meters wide. DPWH assisted a private company in providing a pay loader to clear the blocked area.
