In the Philippines, a lot of Filipinos are members of the Pag-IBIG Fund. It was mainly designed to provide the Filipinos most especially the poor affordable housing options. Through the years, it has continued to grow its offers.
Nowadays, aside from the Pag-IBIG Housing Loan, the Fund also offers a Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan and a Pag-IBIG Calamity Loan. The former was designed to help meet the short-term needs of members while the latter was crafted as a turn-to of the members in times of natural disasters.
Under the Calamity Loan offer, a member of the Fund may borrow an equivalent of up to 80% of their total regular savings. The Pag-IBIG Calamity Loan interest rate is the lowest in the market and there is an easy process in applying for the offer.
Here are the steps in applying for the Calamity Loan offer of the Fund:
Step 1 — Check the qualifications.
There are eligibility requirements that a loan applicant must meet to qualify for the offer. To be eligible to apply for the Calamity Loan offer, here are the qualifications set by the government agency:
- at least twenty-four (24) monthly membership savings under the Pag-IBIG Regular Savings
- active membership, by having at least one (1) monthly membership savings within the last six (6) months prior to the date of loan application
- has proof of income
If the loan applicant has an existing Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan, Housing Loan, and/or Calamity Loan, the loan must not be in default and the payment is updated.
Step 2 — Prepare the requirements.
Just like in other loan offers, there are documentary requirements for the Pag-IBIG Calamity Loan that you must submit to apply for the offer. Make sure to have the original copies of all the documents required by the Fund for the possibility of presentation.
Step 3 — File your loan application.
Go to a branch of the Pag-IBIG Fund nearest to you and submit your loan application. The Fund members may avail the Pag-IBIG Calamity Loan offer within 90 days from the declaration of the state of calamity by the Office of the President or the Sangguniang Bayan.
