PAGASA Says 2 Weather Systems to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that two weather systems will bring rain over parts of the country.

On Thursday (January 25, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The shear line and amihan will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA expert Benison Estareja reported that the shear line will bring scattered rains over the eastern section of Southern Luzon while amihan will be felt over the rest of Luzon.

The shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Marinduque, Aklan, Capiz, and Northern Samar.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and Cordillera Administrative Region. It will bring light to moderate rainfall over Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Albay, and Sorsogon over 12 hours.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the rest of the country.

The weather agency has warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon and Visayas will be rough. The rest of the country will have moderate to rough surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.

Be cautious for occasional heavy rains and thunderstorms, as these may lead to flooding and landslides,” Estareja said.

A gale warning was raised over the eastern coasts of Southern Luzon and Visayas; the northern and eastern coasts of Northern Luzon; and the eastern coasts of Central Luzon.
