PAGASA Says Amihan to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the northeast monsoon will bring rains over parts of Northern and Central Luzon.

On Wednesday (January 24, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA expert Rhea Torres reported that Northeast Monsoon will bring rains over parts of Northern and Central Luzon. It will bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte.

“May mga kaulapan na po tayong naoobserbahan dito sa may bahagi ng Northern at Central Luzon. so yan po yung hanging amihan o northeast monsoon patuloy na umiiral sa malaking bahagi ng Northern and Central Luzon are and possible po na magdala ng ulan sa ilang bahagi ng bansa,” Torres said.

Possible flash floods or landslides are expected in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The Cordillera Administrative Region will experience similar weather conditions.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of Calabarzon. These areas will have generally fair weather despite some chances of isolated light rains.

The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the remaining parts of the country. Flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

“Sa nalalabing bahagi naman po ng ating bansa patuloy pa rin po yung maaliwalas na panahon and currently wala naman po tayong binabantayan na  lowp-pressure o bagyo sa loob at labas ng Philippine Area of Responsibility,” she added.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon and Visayas will be rough. The rest of the archipelago will have moderate to rough surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.

A gale warning was raised over the eastern seaboard of Visayas.
