PAGASA Says Easterlies and Amihan to Bring Scattered Rains Over Parts of the Country

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that easterlies and amihan will bring scattered rains over some parts of the country.

On Wednesday (November 8, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The easterlies and amihan will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that easterlies will affect Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao while the Northeast Monsoon will affect extreme Northern Luzon.

The easterlies and shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy weather with rains over Batanes and Babuyan Islands.  Possible flash floods or landslides are expected due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

“Samantala ang northeast monsoon o amihan naman ay umiiral pa rin sa bahagi ng Extreme Northern Luzon kung meron din itong dalang maulap na kalangitan at mga pag-ulan sa bahagi yan ng Batanes at Babuyan island,” weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Ilocos Norte and Apayao.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The weather agency warned the residents in the affected areas for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the northern and eastern sections of Luzon will be moderate to rough. Eastern Visayas and the northeastern portion of Mindanao will have moderate surrounding sea conditions.

The rest of Luzon and Visayas and the rest of Mindanao are expected to experience slight to moderate coastal waters, according to PAGASA.
