PAGASA Says Typhoon Jenny and Habagat to Bring Scattered Rains Over Parts of the Country

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Typhoon Jenny weakened and is no longer directly affecting the country.

On Friday (October 6, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Jenny will affect the country’s weather conditions.

Jenny is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility and was last spotted 385 kilometers west-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes. It packs maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 150 kph.

PAGASA

PAGASA has lifted all tropical cyclone warnings in the country but a new low-pressure area might turn into a tropical depression within the next few days, according to weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio.

“Ngayon po, wala na pong mga tropical cyclone wind signal sa ating bansa dahil tuluyan na pong luamayo si bagyong Jenny,” Aurelio said.

The typhoon’s trough will bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Ilocos Norte, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands. Jenny will still enhance the southwest monsoon.

Flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas due to moderate to heavy rains.

The enhanced habagat will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila, Zambales. Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, the rest of Ilocos Region, as well as CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), and MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan).

The southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the remaining parts of the country. Possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

“Itong si bagyong Jenny ay patuloy pa niyang hinahatak ang habagat, kaya itong habagat ay naaapektuhan ang malaking bahagi ng Luzon kasama ang Metro Manila,” he added.
