PAGASA Says Typhoon Jenny Slightly Weakened But Will Continue to Bring Rains Over Parts of the Country

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Typhoon Jenny slightly weakened but will continue to enhance habagat.

On Wednesday (October 4, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Jenny will continue to affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that Typhoon Jenny was spotted 270 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

Jenny slightly weakens as it moves 10 kph in a west-northwestward direction. It will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon, which will bring occasional rains over the western portions of Luzon in the next three days.

The typhoon will bring rains with gusty winds over Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, and Ilocos Norte. Its trough will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the rest of Cagayan Valley, the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of the Ilocos Region.

The southwest monsoon will bring similar weather conditions and occasional rains over Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, the northern portion of Palawan, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of MIMAROPA.

The southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the remaining parts of the country.

The weather agency has warned the public of possible flooding or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over Extreme Northern Luzon will be rough. The rest of Luzon will have moderate to rough surrounding sea conditions. Visayas and Mindanao would have slight to moderate waters,.

Jenny is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by afternoon or evening, according to PAGASA.
