The filed motion for reconsideration for It’s Showtime has been denied and these are the comments online.
IT’S SHOWTIME – The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) denied the show’s appeal and these are the reactions.
The filed motions for reconsideration by media giants ABS-CBN Corporation and GMA Network, Inc. for the noontime variety show “It’s Showtime” have been denied. The resolution was released on Thursday, September 28.
The Board’s decision dated August 17, 2023, is affirmed.
Showtime’s suspension was due to several violations and warnings. The MTRCB had initially imposed the 12-day suspension after receiving complaints.
Within the duration of the grace period, the network has closely collaborated with the agency. In the MRs, the networks reiterated their stance about not violating any pertinent law.
Since the appeal has been junked as announced just recently, MTRCB chairperson Lala Sotto said that the network giants can appeal to the Office of the President within 15 days.
The denial is a trending topic online as of this writing. Many people expressed their sadness as they would not be seeing the show for 12 days. However, this is not certain yet as the networks have not released any official statement yet about this decision and if they would proceed to appeal to the OP.
After the OP, they can appeal to the Court Appeals and Supreme Court. This only means that while the case is in the middle of this process, the show can still continue to air and bring happiness and entertainment to its loyal viewers.
Many also aired that they were disappointed with the decision but not surprised.
Here are some comments and reactions:
What an abhorrent, mean human being Lala Sotto is.
May Showtime pa ba bukas? 14th anniversary na pa naman sa October tinaon pa
The decision of MTRCB and this Lala Baba Sotto is extremely homophobic.
Wala na tayong magagawa. Denied na.
Hindi namin kailangan ng ganyang namumuno sa ahensiyang pasweldo ng taong bayan.
How about EAT?? Mas malala pa nga ginagawa ng mga yon kesa sa showtime eh.
