Sara Duterte Thanks PBBM Amid 2022 Confidential Fund Issue, Risa Hontiveros Reacts

Opposition Senator Risa Hontiveros on VP Sara Duterte who has this statement amid the issue of the confidential funds.

Vice President Sara Duterte was asked to justify the confidential funds and has this statement for President Bongbong Marcos and other officials.

Grilling the 2022 OVP CF (Office of the Vice President Confidential Funds) is opposition Senator Risa Hontiveros.

“Senator Risa Hontiveros, while she amuses with nation with her flair for drama, could only wish the 2022 OVP CF (Office of the Vice President Confidential Funds) was accessed illegally,” remarked Vice President Sara Duterte in a statement but the senator was unfazed, and even dared Duterte to publicly defend it if she is that confident about it.

Hontiveros added that as a senator, it is only her job to question the budget. To recall, Duterte’s office earlier confirmed that they has requested a Php 125 million confidential fund last year.

This amount was part of the Php 221.4 million allocation which was transferred to the OVP. The senator called this transfer “unauthorized” and “illegal”.

In a statement released on September 11, Monday, Duterte expressed her “heartfelt gratitude to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr and to several officials of the Marcos administration”.

This is for standing by the OVP as they are facing intense questioning regarding the 2022 CF.

On her social media page, the senator shared the statement of the OVP with a photo that says, “Pero, bakit parang kasalanan” following the mention of her name in the said statement.

For her, what was amusing was the almost half an hour of time they spent just pinpointing, avoiding answering questions, twisting responses, and distorting the situation.

The real issue as per the senator is the fact that OVP and DepEd have larger CF compared to the CF of the Department of National Defense and National Intelligence Coordinating Agency.
