PAGASA Says Habagat to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau has reported that overcast skies and scattered rain showers will prevail over parts of the country.

On Tuesday (August 22, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Habagat will continue to affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that southwest monsoon will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over parts of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Visayas, Mindanao, MIMAROPA, Bataan, Zambales, Cavite, Batangas, Masbate, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon.

“Para sa magiging lagay ng panahon ngayong araw, maulap na kalangitan at mataas din yung tsansa ng pagulan pagkidlat at pagkulog dito sa western section ng Luzon particular sa Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, at Mimaropa,” weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.

Habagat and the localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Luzon, rest of Bicol region, Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro.

Chances of thunderstorms are expected throughout the rest of the country, especially during the afternoon and evening.

The weather agency has warned the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over western section of Luzon and the remaining parts of the country will be slight to moderate, according to the weather bureau. PAGASA did not raise a gale warning in any seaboards of the country.
