71-Year-Old Grandma in Taguig Graduates from Elementary School
At the age of 71, grandma Lola Ellen Rivera from Taguig City joyfully climbed the stage to receive her elementary school graduation certificate.
According to the local government of Taguig City, Lola Ellen graduated from Maharlika Integrated School on Wednesday, July 12. Through the kindness of those who took her under their wing and her determination to pursue education, Lola Ellen was able to overcome poverty and continue her studies after a long period of time.
The 71-year-old grandmother encourages other senior citizens not to feel ashamed if they also wish to pursue education. “Sana po pag matanda…pag mag-aaral ka po, ‘wag ka mahiya. Bakit ako, hindi nahihiya,” she said in a post shared by the Taguig City government.
Lola Ellen also expressed her gratitude to Mayor Lani Cayetano for the support extended by the local government of Taguig City, including providing her with shoes, uniforms, and school supplies that were useful in her studies.
“She is proof that education knows no age,” stated the Taguig City government.

Vice Mayor Arvin Ian Alit, Councilor Yasser Pangandaman, Councilor Ed Prado, Councilor Jomil Serna, Councilor Alex Penolio, and Councilor Marisse Balina-Eron personally congratulated Lola Ellen on her achieved success.
Meanwhile, in the province of Cebu, a 65-year-old grandmother has also successfully graduated from senior high school.
