Grandma Sends Her Unattended Dog to Shelter After She Suffered Stroke

A stroke-affected grandma from Tondo, Manila sends her unattended dog to Animal Kingdom Foundation through a letter.

Despite the pain in her heart, Lola Ignacia from Tondo, Manila, had to send her beloved dog to a shelter because she could no longer take care of it after suffering a stroke. Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF), a non-governmental organization, recounted how they received Lola Ignacia’s letter along with her dog in a box.

The AKF shared the touching contents of Lola Ignacia’s letter on their Facebook post. Lola Ignacia said that she had only instructed a tricycle driver where to take her dog, leaving a request that the adopters would continue to administer the medicine to her pet.

Na-stroke po ako at ito na lamang ang naisip kong paraan para isurrender siya. Sa sino man po ang makakakuha sa kaniya, sana ay mahalin at alagaan ninyo nang mabuti ang aso ko,” Lola Ignacia said.

In the same post, the AKF responded to Lola’s letter, saying that they had taken in her dog and promised to take good care of it as per her request. They also assured her that they would update her on the condition of her beloved dog and that they would have it checked by a vet to determine the cause of its paralysis.

Since Lola Ignacia did not mention her dog’s name in the letter, the AKF decided to call it “Tonton” for the time being. They also urged anyone who would like to help in Tonton’s medical treatment and rehabilitation to contact them.

The AKF also called on Lola Ignacia to communicate with them to get updates on Tonton’s condition as it travels to their shelter in Capas, Tarlac, where it will stay temporarily.
