Grace Poe Questioned the Controversial New Logo of PAGCOR
Senator Grace Poe questioned the controversial new logo of the Philippine Amusement Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
Poe has responded to PAGCOR’s new logo, which has received criticism on social media for its questionable design. The senator questioned if the recently selected logo was competitively bid on.
According to the earlier post, the claimed logo was created for P3 million. While underlining the significance of fair business opportunities, Poe emphasizes the importance of ensuring that the entity contracted by PAGCOR is registered and an active taxpayer.
“Because it’s (PAGCOR) a government agency, it should have [undergone] the proper bidding process. Ganyan ba talaga kamahal para gumawa ng bagong logo? Saan ba pwedeng mapunta ang P3 million na yun… Ano ba yung bidding? Sino ba yung nakisali dyan? I think, parang gawin lang yan sa computer, hindi ba?” she said based on the report of ABS-CBN News.
PAGCOR, as a government body, should have followed the proper bidding procedures, according to the senator. Senator Poe questioned whether the cost of producing a new logo is genuinely warranted, and where the P3 million cash should have been spent instead.
She is also skeptical of the bidding procedure, questioning how difficult it may be to develop a logo with a computer. Senator Poe reminds out that a P3 million budget is frequently similar to the cost of a high-end painting or engaging a highly competent artist to produce a design.
While she acknowledges that the contractors may have met government standards, she considers the budgeted sum for the logo to be excessive. In an era when resources are few, the senator believes that the government should spend its money wisely, prioritizing projects of greater relevance.
“When it comes to government projects with limited resources, it can be allocated to projects that are most important, eh baka, pwedeng magtipid-tipid tayo ng konti. Yung bidding lang gusto kong malaman,” Poe said.
