Vic Sotto Admits He Will Fight for the Title of Eat Bulaga and Use it in TV5
Veteran actor-comedian and TV host Vic Sotto vows to fight for the title of the noontime show Eat Bulaga and will take it to their new home.
“Basta kahit ano mangyari, Eat Bulaga! pa rin,” stated Bossing Vic Sotto in a press conference when asked about the title of their noontime TVJ show on TV5. Vic swore to keep the Eat Bulaga title from Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.) after their move to TV5.
Vic’s speech was brief, but his subsequent words demonstrated how profoundly he felt the tension between TVJ and the Eat Bulaga producer. Vic discussed the potential of adopting the term Eat Bulaga, despite the fact that it is already in use by their former production firm, which is owned by the Jalosjos family.
According to Bossing, they have yet to decide on a title for their upcoming TV5 show because they really wanted to utilize ‘Eat Bulaga’. Bossing Vic stated that Eat Bulaga has become a part of his life for 44 years and that he couldn’t envision adopting a different title for their new noontime show.
“You can just imagine, after 44 years, minahal mo… More than half of my life sa Eat Bulaga!. Pagka-absent ako sa Eat Bulaga! parang may kulang sa buhay ko. Tapos kukunin lang ng kung sinu-sino? Aba! Hindi puwede,” he said.
He hissed at the same time, “Hindi papayag si MVP. Huy!” Vic referred to the “MVP” as Manny V. Pangilinan chairman of MediaQuest Inc. He even mentioned that the tycoon would help them retain the title.
TVJ — or the trinity of Tito Sotto, Vic, and Joey de Leon — was in full form during their mediacon at TV5 this Tuesday afternoon, June 20, 2023. TVJ’s “legit Dabarkads” include Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Allan K, Paolo Ballesteros, Ryan Agoncillo, Maine Mendoza, Ryzza Mae Dizon, and Carren Eistrup.
Meanwhile, Joey de Leon joked that the title of their show will change every day. “Pwede kunyari Monday sasabihin ni Pareng Vic na ‘Our title of the day…’ Joey said.
Tito Sotto then responded, claiming that they are sincerely attempting to assert their right to utilize the Eat Bulaga title. “We are definitely working on the legal side for ‘Eat Bulaga.’ Si Joey ang nag-imbento no’n e. History and the law back us up…it may take some time, but we will be able to use ‘Eat Bulaga.’ I’m sure of that.” Tito explained.
