One of the highlights of the Black Nazarene Feast is the procession which is more popularly known as “Traslacion,” it is the passage of the life-sized, dark wooden statue of Jesus Christ in the areas regularly visited by the image every year.
According to the organizers of the Feast of the Black Nazarene, this year’s Traslacin theme is “Banal na Eukaristiya, Buhay ng mga Sumasampalataya sa Poong Hesus Nazareno sa Taon ng Awa,” which is in line with the announced Eucharistic Congress to be held at Cebu on January 24-31 as well as the declaration of 2016 as the Jubilee Year of Mercy.
Before the highly anticipated Traslacion, on Friday devotees of the Black Nazarene flocked to Luneta to see in person the image of the Black Nazarene which becomes accessible for a larger crowd of devotees to kiss and touch. The vesperas of the Black Nazarene was also known as “pahalik.”
