Janitress in Tuguegarao City Finishes Kindergarten at the Age of 42
In a heartwarming tale of determination and perseverance, a 42-year-old mother and janitress, Remilyn Dimla, has overcome various obstacles to accomplish a significant milestone in her educational journey.
Dimla recently finished kindergarten at Tuguegarao East Central School (TECS) in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan province, where she also works as a janitress.
Remilyn’s inspiring tale went viral after a behind-the-scenes snapshot of her class went viral on social media. It demonstrated her unwavering devotion to education, despite the hurdles she encountered as an adult learner surrounded by classmates over a decade her junior.
The janitress chose kindergarten since she had problems writing her own name when collecting her child’s class modules. Impressed by Remilyn’s commitment to her child’s education, school administrators encouraged her to take advantage of the opportunity to learn to read and write herself.
She enrolled in kindergarten, engaging herself in an atmosphere generally populated by 4 to 5-year-old children.
Throughout kindergarten, she demonstrated a great level of camaraderie and empathy. Despite the large age difference, she never separated herself from her much younger classmates, who referred to her as “auntie.”
Her presence provided inspiration and advice, and she accepted her role as a supportive figure in the class.
Due to financial constraints and a lack of interest, the hardworking woman revealed that she did not have the opportunity to attend school at an early age. Instead, her mother prioritized her stepsister’s schooling, leaving Remilyn’s own educational ambitions unfulfilled for many years.
Her completion of kindergarten, on the other hand, has instilled in her a renewed determination. She now sees a brighter future in which she can further her education and achieve her goals.
