Illegal Recruiter Arrested for Targeting PCG Applicants in Pasay
The police authorities arrested an illegal recruiter who is allegedly victimizing applicants of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Pasay.
According to the PCG statement, a suspected unlawful recruiter named Nelson Abordo was apprehended in an entrapment operation. The operation was carried out in front of the Baclaran Church by the PCG and the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG).
PCG said Abordo was an accused accomplice of Gly-an Jubac and John Herald Padillo, who are presently at large. After receiving many complaints from applicants who paid “downpayments” to Abordo, Jubac, and Padillo in April, the PCG collaborated with the PNP-CIDG.
According to the report, some victims claimed illegally recruiting ambitious PCG applicants in exchange for money. Abordo was apprehended after accepting P15,000 in marked money from undercover agents. A.45-caliber pistol was also taken from Abordo.
In the meantime, the PCG and CIDG are planning another entrapment operation to apprehend Jubac and Padillo. Last month, PCG intelligence officers apprehended an illegal recruiter who allegedly offered applicants “sure enlistment” in the PCG for P350,000.
The culprit was identified as Omar Sampang, who was apprehended at Baclaran, Paranaque. The Coast Guard Intelligence Force (CGIF) got information from a PCG applicant about Sampang’s purported offer to enlist with the agency in exchange for P350,000 prior to the operation.
