In a heartbreaking story that has captured the hearts of many, teacher Melanie Figueroa shared a story about her grade 9 student, Mike. According to Teacher Melanie, she learned that Mike had lost his mother shortly after she gave birth to his twin siblings.
Teacher Melanie shared that her student’s mom died three months after she gave birth to the twins. This made their situation even more difficult because of the daily needs of milk, diapers, and other necessities for the twins and their other siblings. There are eight of them.
The struggles faced by Mike and his family were truly heart-wrenching. They had to endure the hardship of making do with a meager daily allowance of P10-15, which Mike had been saving to buy laundry detergent just to wash his school uniform.
The lady education revealed that during their conversation, Mike also requested a new pair of slacks as his current one was worn-out. Touched by his plight, she decided to post his story on Facebook, hoping to gather support for Mike.
“Para po mas makatulong ako pinost ko po ang kwento niya sa aking Facebook. Nakakuha po ako 14,000 in just 20 minutes mula po sa mga kaibigan at dating estudyante,” Figueroa said.
The swift response and generosity of those around her highlighted the compassion and care that people possess.
With the aid received from kind-hearted individuals, Teacher Melanie was able to buy milk, diapers, and other daily necessities for Mike’s twin siblings and the rest of his family. However, she acknowledged that this support might not be enough, and there was a possibility that these resources would soon run out.
“Nabilhan ko po ang kambal ng mga gatas at diaper pati na rin mga pangangailang nila sa araw-araw. Kaya lang po alam ko di pa sapat ’yon at malamang sa mga oras na ito ay paubos na rin ito,” she added.
