PAGASA Says ITCZ & Localized Thunderstorms to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Intertropical Convergence Zone and localized thunderstorms will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Saturday (May 20, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The Intertropical Convergence Zone and localized thunderstorms will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that ITCZ will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Central Visayas, Western Visayas, Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, Zamboanga and Occidental Mindoro.

The ITCZ / Localized Thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the rest of Visayas. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience similar weather condition.

The weather agency is monitoring a tropical depression located at 2,510 km east of Northeastern Mindanao. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

Possible flash floods or landslides are expected due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

The coastal water condition over the entire country will be slight to moderate, according to the weather bureau.
