The pair said that the driver’s actions were suspect from the start because he took the stub provided by the dispatcher until they couldn’t see the meter because it was obscured by the driver’s cell phone. While “Ed” was thinking of a solution, he noticed a police officer and let the automobile pass.

Cpl. Carmina Villena of the Bonifacio Global City police station was fast to respond. The incident sparked a brief chase, but the cab driver was also murdered. The driver refuted the charges leveled against him. He said that his cab service only serves Metro Manila and does not serve Antipolo.

“Yung linya po ng taxi ko, within Metro Manila. Ngayon po, tama po yon, noong sinakay ko po ‘yung bag niya…sabi ko ‘Sir, malayo na po yon, out of Metro Manila na.’ Eh sabi niya i-metro mo. Eh sabi ko ‘Sir, may tariff rate kami,” the driver explained.

The driver will face criminal accusations for grave coercion, theft, unfair vexation, and disobedience to a person in authority. He will face traffic violations for disregarding a traffic official, dangerous driving, and passenger discrimination.
