Manny Pacquiao was ordered to pay Paradigm
The camp of boxer-turned-politician Manny Pacquiao spoke about the decision of the California jury in favor of Paradigm Sports Management regarding the breach of contract case filed against him.
The complaint from Paradigm came from Manny’s alleged move to sign a contract with another company or a boxing fight when he already signed a contract with the former. PacMan lost and the jury ordered him to pay $5.1 million, which is approximately P282 million, to Paradigm.
Based on the report from PEP, the camp of the Pambansang Kamao chose not to release a long statement about this.
The camp of Manny Pacquiao stressed that the legal battle is not yet over. Atty. Jason Aniel, the boxing champ’s legal counsel said that there are still some issues that should be addressed in court.
“A judgment has not yet been entered. The court has scheduled a hearing in June and there are still legal issues that need to be addressed by the court before the case is fully resolved,” Pacquiao’s lawyer said.
Atty. Aniel added that they are looking forward to the release of the court’s final decision. The Pinoy boxer also said that as long as there is no final decision, he can’t make any comment.
PSM owner Audi Attar stressed that Manny Pacquiao lied regarding the unreturned cash advance worth $2 million and not following what was stated in the contract.
“We are elated to learn of the jury’s ruling in Paradigm’s favor in our suit against Manny Pacquiao. The jury plainly found that Pacquiao testified falsely in denying Paradigm’s claims against him, and his excuses for his conduct proves our case that a breach of contract was committed,” Attar said.
The PSM owner added that he hopes the Pinoy boxer already learned his lessons to “act with honesty and integrity.”
